WELCOME TO THE BEST OF THE SOUTH
We celebrate the American South. We are inspired by the brilliance of our musicians, authors, playwrights, artists, and everyday people. We soak up southern cuisine, libations, and overall zest for life. We embrace Southern hospitality, hard work, openness, and kindness to all no matter their color, creed, or station.
We salute the Global South. Particularly the coffee farmers who work sun up to sun down applying their expertise and care to the craft of growing this incredible coffee. This is the stuff that feeds their families and fills our cups with the fuel we need to get our days up, running, and on the right track. Bean South brings these Souths together. Hard work, the family farm, and the fun we have when the work is done. This coffee is the fruit of our common project– we are all connected by the beans in this bag.
We hope you all enjoy this coffee as much as we enjoy the work of getting it to you. We raise a mug to all of the people who work to make our Souths as great as they can possibly be.

About Bean South
Our Coffee
Fair Trade: All of our coffees are Fair Trade. This means we are committed to Long-Term Relationships, Fair wages, Community Development, Environmental Responsibility, Transparency, and Democratic Organization
Organic: All of our coffees are Organic Certified. This means that the entire process of crop to cup is done sustainably without using chemicals and satisfies the criteria of the USDA. This is better for farmers, better for us, better for our communities, and better for the earth.
Shade Grown: All of our coffees are Shade-Grown providing healthy habitats with shade canopy for birds, insects, and people. This creates and maintains a healthy and balanced eco-system for farmers and their communities and assists wildlife.
Specialty Coffee: All of our coffees are Specialty Grade. We roast only specialty quality coffee from some of the most talented small-scale farmers on the planet and we take the responsibility of honoring their hard work and expertise very seriously. The result is a truly great cup of coffee.
Our Business Model
We are part of a unique supply chain where roasters work directly with small-scale farmers and import coffee directly from them with no middle-man– a cooperative model.
The Cooperative Model: We only buy from small farmer cooperatives. A cooperative is a democratic enterprise owned and run by its members, who share the profits or benefits.
Cooperative Coffees: Our importing cooperative business– Co-op Coffees– buys directly from small-scale farmer cooperatives in 14 countries around the world.
B Corp: We are a certified B Corp. B Certification examines how our company operates and verifies that we use our business as a force for good and not just to turn a profit.
Fair Trade Federation: We are members of The Fair Trade Federation (FTF). The FTF is a trade association of fair trade enterprises that are fully committed to equitable and sustainable trading partnerships.
Southern Roots And History
We are headquartered in the historic town of Americus in the heart of southwest Georgia. We are just eight miles from Plains, home of President Carter and about thirty minutes north of Albany smack dab in the middle of beautiful pecan groves, cotton rows, and peanut farms. Come see us when you can!
We are a project of Café Campesino, the first and only 100% fair trade and organic certified coffee roaster in Georgia and one of the first in the south. We are incredibly proud to promote the best of both the U.S. and global south– where our roots go back over twenty-five years.
“WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR.”
